We decided to spend the day at the coast yesterday even though rain was coming down sporadically throughout the day and, not to mention, the possible threat of a tsunami hitting the coast! Well, we survived to tell about it :)
First we headed to Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock - seen in the movie The Goonies. It was about 50 degrees outside, there was a breeze on the beach, and it was misty...it was awesome.
Next we headed to Seaside. When we showed up there we noticed a news crew filming the water. Jeff overheard them telling another tourist, "Nothing will probably happen, but you never know." We figured he was talking about the chance of a tsunami hitting the Oregon coast. It wasn't stopping anyone because there were people all over the beach. On our drive home from the beach we were greeted with a rainbow. On the way home from the beach we knocked out a few other places on our "places to see" list! 1st we drove through Helvetia, OR where Little People Big World is filmed. The farm is closed but we still got a picture! Hopefully we'll eventually go to the pumpkin patch when it's open.
Our last stop was downtown Portland to go to a donut shop I've been dying to go to FOREVER! Voodoo Donut - it's been on the Travel Channel a million times and we drove down towards the store the first week we were here but parking was a nightmare so we didn't get to go in. Yesterday we found a spot to park about a 1/4 of a mile away. We had to walk through a couple of scary spots - there were 2 rescue missions within 3 blocks of each other - I had never actually been around that many homeless people. It was sad. Anyway, we finally got to Voodoo Donut and the line was SO long and we only paid for 30 min parking so we decided that going on a saturday wasn't really a good idea so we walked up the bridge to take a picture with the "Made in Oregon" sign.

It was a fun day. Today we watched USA vs. Canada, it was an AWESOME game - too bad we lost it in OT. We're also having a The Office marathon and relaxing eating lots of saltwater taffy and Jeff is eating his favorite, Cadbury mini eggs. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as well!

Man, you were so close to Rick and Wendy! You should have gone another 30 minutes to see them! Although you'll need a weekend (or more) to do that!! There is so much to see in their area!~ AND when you get there you have to eat Fish and Chips at the BowPicker!! Simply the BEST!!!!
